Former Duquesne assistant and Bethel Park High School graduate Rachel Wojdowski has joined the Western PA Bruins as coach of the 15U team on the Under Armour circuit.

In seven seasons as assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Duquesne, Wojdowski helped the Dukes reach the top of the Atlantic 10 conference in rebounding and defensive field goal percentage. She coached 11 all-conference honorees and eight players who signed professional contracts overseas. As lead international recruiter, Wojdowski brought in players from Hungary, Estonia, Serbia, Norway, Spain and Canada

Wojdowski played professionally for five years in Europe after leading New York University to a 46-9 record over her junior and senior years. She guided NYU to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16, was named a Kodak All-American, and is a 2015 inductee into the NYU Hall of Fame. Wojdowski came to NYU after playing at UNC-Wilmington and Duquesne.

“We are excited about the expertise and passion Coach Woj brings to our 15U team playing in the top division of the Under Armour circuit,” said Bruins Executive Director John Tate. “Rachel is a proven winner, knows the college and pro game, and has deep roots in Western Pennsylvania. We couldn’t ask for a more qualified addition to our coaching staff.”

A 2000 Bethel Park graduate, Wojdowski averaged 17.6 points and 10.7 rebounds per game in her high school career. She started coaching as an assistant at Peters Township High School. In 2015, she was invited to participate in the first Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Center for Coaching Excellence leadership program.

The Western PA Bruins, founded in 1987, are one of the nation’s top AAU girls basketball organizations. More than 100 Bruins have received college basketball scholarships, including five WNBA players.
